Getting started

Step 1

Add a site

Click New site and choose to crawl a URL or upload documents (PDF, Word, text).

Step 2

Wait for indexing

SiteChat crawls and indexes your content automatically. A live indicator tracks progress.

Step 3

Preview & tune

Open the site → Appearance tab and use the live preview to test responses before going live.

Step 4

Embed on your site

Copy the one-line script from the Embed tab and paste it before </body>.

Frequently asked

How often is my site re-crawled?

By default, sites are not re-crawled automatically. Open a site → Crawl tab to enable a schedule (daily, weekly, or custom cron).

How do I route a chat to a human agent?

Enable handoffs in a site's settings. When the bot can't answer, visitors can request a human. You'll see the request under Handoffs and can assign it to an agent.

What file formats can I upload?

PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, MD, and CSV. Maximum 50 MB per file.

How do I add a team member?

Go to Team in the sidebar. Admins can add site owners and agents; site owners can add agents for their own sites.

Can I customize the chat widget?

Yes — open a site → Appearance to change the widget color, position, welcome message, and bot avatar.
